The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

I've searched through the forums and its mentioned a little, but not entirely in its own thread, so here it goes...

Devin is God (obviously) in open C tuning, As a guitar player myself, I usually try and work around the open c and try and learn his licks in standard tuning (well, standard intervals between the strings) using Drop C. I've found that the open C tuning totally rocks for Devs songs (double obviously) and there are some licks you can only play in open C (obvious obvious obvious). For most of us guitarists that have been raised playing with normal intervals between strings, its only natural to hear a dev lick and pick up your guitar and just try and nut it out. For instance the arpeggios at the end of the song 'Ki' playing them in standard tuning is weird as, and is harder playing it in open C IMHO.

BUT wondering how the Dev man would fair in playing with standard tuning? does he noodle around still in it do you think? what songs are in normal tuning? i read by a few peeps that colonial boy might be in standard, and punky brewster could have been in standard?? and Dev said that quiet riot is in standard. I'm just speculating here too though. But its an interesting topic for us guitar dickheads out there.

During his acoustic video on mevio, He played a bit in standard at the end, he played some of stairway and then said thats all he really knew in standard, then he played a bit of dream on. So i dont think he uses it that often.

I wonder if Dev's music would be playable in New Standard Tuning (see Robert Fripp)?

They mostly play in half step down but I guess that is kinda standard! Funeral from what I recall is also in Standard. Aswell as Sunshine and Happiness although I think that's just Dave on the guitar. Two Weeks off Alien is in standard too. Neat little song to play. The Greys might be aswell.. Not too sure.

Funeral is in standard, and so is Sunshine and Happiness but he didn't play guitar on that so whatever. SYL's Two Weeks is in standard, and so is The Filler I think, something off of HAARHT definitively is. Oh, Detox and Things Beyond Things are in drop D.
