Question is, should I try and get shooting passes?

Why wouldn't you want shooting passes?! :D

I don't want to be worried about my gear. I'd also have to find someone to shoot for. Anyone willing to email Adam Sagir on my behalf? Hell, he might even remember me from his days at Century Media

I've been working out the details to do with Bloodstock, and I've realised a few things. Firstly, barring Sonata Arctia, there's not a band on the bill so far that I care to see bar DTP. Secondly, my friends, who always said to me that I have to go to a festival at some point, have flaked out to go to Reading instead, because "Bloodstock has good bands and metal fans, who are assholes, and reading's got whoever on the bill and has fun people". Thirdly, I'm probably not going to be able to afford a tent due to saving for a VIP ticket, and shall probably sleep in what I'm wearing on the bare grass.

Finally, these things all lead up to the fact that I'm planning to pay £204 when I'm unemployed in the vain hope that I might be able to chill w/ Dev and have a chat; nothing along the lines of "OMGOMG UR SO KEWL", more just a chill and a chat, but this in as of itself makes me think that I'm thinking too much of myself. Sure, I've toured Europe w/ Nysrok, but that doesn't mean I'm anyone special, and I can't assume Dev would automatically wish to talk to me, or even stay around after his gig's done, considering his schedule and the simple fact that he may have far better things to do than wax verbose with what amounts to a random fan.

So, I'm wondering what this makes me out to be, and I've narrowed it down to a few viable theorems. I am either:

a) An idiot with ideas above his station.
b) An over-zealous fan.
c) A minor rock star with wishes to talk "on the level" (id est "normally") to a major rock star.
d) A guy that's excited about seeing his favourite artist after missing the DTB/SYL/Zimmer's Hole gig a decade ago and waiting since then.
e) A guy that's wanting to talk philosophy/spirituality with someone else that might be on the wavelength.
f) A guy that's wanting to talk philosophy/spirituality with someone who's likely to be annoyed at the intrusion.
g) Someone that's shooting himself in the foot in order to persue a flight of fancy.

Yeah, might not look like a short list, but in my terms, it is. Anywho, my question would be: which do I seem like? If I'm likely to be imposing on Dev I wouldn't wish to do so, and would rather just spend £44 and see him live and be happy with that. Conversely, if I'm simply being a die-hard fan that wishes to talk normally with someone he respects and would be appreciated, maybe I'm not. I'm not foolish enough to pretend I know Dev, nor that I know enough of him to have any inkling as to whether I am, indeed, one or t'other. I'm also aware this all might read like a large dose of neurosis, and that my verbosity has run away with me as always.

So, I'm going to leave it here for people to either reply to or not, and take a leaf from the Omnidimesional Creator, and try to chillax a bit, as either way, I've got a lot of time and saving to do ere August comes.

Still, It'd be a nice B-Day present.

tl;dr? I'm of two minds whether to buy a VIP ticket or not, and I don't know how long they'll be available for.

Oh, and this is my 66th post, how numerologically interesting!

i'd go with b or g, not trying to be a dick but the vip tickets won't get you "backstage" they get you into the same area as people with press passes and other vip ticket holders and volunteer staff. i doubt Dev (or anyone on the bill) will be hanging around for anything other than a few photos and hand shakes. sorry but i imagine he'll be off to speak to gene and byron (playing the same day) or gwar (probably arriving later that night).

so really get a normal ticket and a tent and a t. it'll be more worth it in the long run.

Yeah, I highly doubt the VIP ticket would give you the chance to have an actual conversation with Dev, or anyone on the mainstage...

I've never gotten a VIP ticket before, so I wouldn't really know what advantages you get with one, but I don't think it really increases your chances of meeting doodz. I thought it was mainly for the slightly nicer camping zone.

I would recommend not risking it. Its a lot more money for such a tiny increase in likelihood (if any).

Thats' until someone else comes back here after Bloodstock and says "Hey I met Dev because I had a VIP pass", then you'll be all "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-"

MESHUGGAH!!!!!

Holy Freakin' Ballz.

Best BOA line up BY FAR in history EVAR.

First time seeing them for me. 2nd-from-headline slot, relatively long set (compared to them being at Download or something). CAN'T WAIT.

I saw this.
I came.

Friday night headliners will be announced middle of june....MESHUGGAH!!!!!!!!! are the SG slot.

Desecration too :D

Speculation begins.....Could it be Motorhead? they're only midcard at Download, so i don't think they're exclusive.

They're announcing the headliner just after Download finishes. A friend of mine thinks there might be a reason for that... possibly a band from Download that have said its their only UK appearence.

Motorhead would make sense. I'm sure its on the event organisers minds - to book another of the "classics", rather than a modern sensation, to replace H&H.

Opeth's current last date this year in July is in the UK, and with Mikael and Axe already at BOA for Bloodbath, they're a possibility perhaps. That would be, Insane.

Apparently it's Immortal.. well, speculation says it's Immortal. Apparently Abbath said "See you at Bloodstock" after receiving an award at the Metal Hammer thinger last night. We'll wait and see I guess..

Oh... Golly... Gosh.

BOA has really pulled it off this year. This is BY FAR the best line up I have ever seen at any festival.

Anyone that hasn't checked the headliner, I won't spoil it for you. :)

YEEEAAAAAAAH :D
