Devin has a much larger fan base in Europe, and London is a great hub for Europeans to converge upon. If Devin and the label are going to put money into something huge, they are going to want it to be accessible to his strongest and most consistent supporters.

There were a hell of a lot of people from all over the world at the DVD shows, not just Europe. I don't think it would be quite as effective if it was anywhere else. Also everyone important (bar the band) is based here.

I'm sure people would show up from across the US to see a show in NYC or LA. If it was a huge show, I know I would.

I'm sure they would, but the US does not house his largest fanbase. The smart thing to do is to cater mainly to the ones paying most of your bills. ;)

Not to say he'll never do anything like this in the US, but Europe will almost always be first priority until he starts selling as many albums in the US as he does overseas.

US FANS!!! BUY MORE SHIT!!!

Perhaps it's more the promoters? None of his U.S promoters want to take a chance with shows so elaborate. I recall Devin saying something along the lines of he play's where they tell him to play.

It'd just be nice, is all :) It's exponentially easier for me to get anywhere in the continental U.S (hell, I'd even go to Hawaii to see Devy, I saw Modest Mouse in Oahu a few years ago [epic!]) than it would be to go to Europe. That being said, I will be ordering my passport soon, and saving my money. Next time Devin does something this big (or bigger), I am going to be there.

After like 600000 months of recording, promotion, touring, recording, more promotion etc etc, he announces a gig for next October at the last final gig of this run?? Does this man ever stop?

If you look up the words "relentless", "inspired" and "daft" in the dictionary you find this man: Image

Dev you`re a f*cking star.

During the 1960s when popular youth culture flourished (in spite of all restrictive laws), clubs such as the Retinal Circus on Davie Street in the West End and Rohans Rockpile in Kitsilano were the hubs of the hippie scene.

Guess Dev's bringing a little piece of home with him when he does this show!

Sort of true, I did the burger for Decon cause he wanted management to let me do stuff for The Retinal Circus :P And well...I live 11 miles away and I have off-street parking suitable for HGVs for picking stuff up, I'm convenient.
