What? No! Godammit!

At least I've got some new Metallica songs to hold me down.

The censoring of Devin's profanity in the Tuska vid is a bit strange. Devin's snot problems during "Numbered" hearkens back to the SYL Download video of yesteryear. That boy has mucous issues. lol

Love the NAMM footage, though. Amazing.

Juno is a great, great song. Pure awesome.

I think they censored the f-words because of the dvd rating. And that is just effin stupid.

Gotta admit, I´m kinda disappointed with the whole box. The bonus songs and demos are cool, but dvd´s are really disappointing, the second one is not even a dvd, but a data disk. If I wanna sit in front of the computer and watch the Poopynuggeteer videos I can just go to Youtube. Why the hell would I even insert the disk in to the computer? The audio commentaries are nice though. The audio and video quality on the Tuska performance is kinda crap, NAMM´s ok.

The packaging and the vinyl are beautiful, otherwise this just feels that they ran out of time and had to rush it.

I hope that Dev actually sees some money from the sales, glad to give my money to him. Even if I feel a bit cheated.

My feelings are mixed, but all in all positive:

- You can see that they had a very limited budget (money and time) and that they tried to do it as well as they could.
- I would have loved to see more video-footage from the studio sessions, but i guess that would have taken to much time (if Dev made it himself) or money (if someone else made it).
- The audio-commentary is really great, a bunch of info i didn't know even though i follow pretty much everything (Twitter, forum, interviews, youtube...).
- The song stems are great, too. Now i want to have the same for all other songs, but i understand that this is not possible... ;-)
- The book is made well, as expected - far better than a wooden altar with candles, a plastic Terminator skull or something like that.
- Bonus tracks are okay, i expected i bit more from Om 2011 (the best part of the original is still missing), but well...
- Better quality of the Tuska footage would have been nice, but it's no problem, i think. Censoring the "fucks" is quite stupid, the whole thing is rated "ab 16" in germany, i guess a 16 year old can manage some "strong" language...
- It's a bit of a bummer that most of the material has been released already, but i'm glad we didn't had to wait until now. And that most of it can be downloaded for free doesn't mean anything today because it's probably a matter of days until everyone could download everything for free somewhere. The whole point of paying is supporting the artist, but that has been said already many times, of course (no need to discuss this again... ;-)).

All in all the whole thing gives very close insights how the records were done, and why almost every detail is how it is. Because Devin is writer, musician and producer in one person, plus he is extremely self-reflected and transparent, the insights are much closer than in every other comparable "making of" i know. I guess thats all i would ask for.

For people who don't own the albums yet it comes for a very reasonable price (compared to something like the Liquid Tension Boxset which contained the same 5 songs in ten different versions or something, as far as i know...). I saw a Negura Bunget set for around 40 Euro which comes as a book, too, but it contains only one album and two discs.

Anyone who's got the vinyl and the equipment to make Dinosaurs available to us non-vinylers would be my hero. Good to hear about the audio commentaries. Aside from owning physical copies of the albums, I pretty much bought it exclusively for those.

Still waiting, still InProcess, still sad. :(

the only let down for me is Tuska, but seeing the footage in the state that it's in, it makes sense why they just included it as a bonus release. Everything else was about what I expected, and I really dig the bonus disks. Let's not overlook the demos disk, some of those decon demos are way cool, there's a couple of other unused/brand new songs on there as well.

Also, the people complaining are overlooking the fact that the box-set is there mainly to showcase the project, so the bonus material is that, BONUS, and there's plenty of it. It's only because we're so plugged into everything that we know half of the bonus material, and that's okay.

The book, in particular, is phenomenal.

As far as DVDs go, well, they don't want to cannibalize the London gigs, now do they?

Sorry bro, not really kosher to do that on here. If you find it elsewhere in the internetspace, you're welcome to (and Dev likely gives you his blessing), but I can't share links on here for something that's current and being sold. For what it's worth, you can find a lot of the bonus material legally already.
