My two favorite albums are Ocean Machine and Accelerated Evolution. That much was easy. But I couldn't decide between Synchestra and Terria for my third pick. I went with Synchestra.

NamasteLikeBender wrote:#2 Deep Peace vs. #7 Tiny Tears: Speaking of songs that got royally underseeded, Tiny Tears takes the cake. Every time I play that song in my car, I always change the lyric to "I'm 23 years old..." That doesn't sound as catchy. Perhaps I can get away with it at 25. I'm pulling for TT.

Ordinarily I would have voted Deep Peace. But since I'm 29 until the end of this year, I'm letting lyrical significance get the better of me.

Yeah man! I go to school here, and I'm from Green Bay. Never been to La Crosse, though.

Behold, the wall of polls! http://devymadness2013.blogspot.com/

Voting will close on Wednesday at 3 PM ET.

We saw some upsets in the Group 1 Quarterfinals, some more surprising than others. The most surprising, arguably, was #6-seeded Irish Maiden taking out Namaste in the Physicist bracket. War, also a 6-seed, took out Dynamics in the Infinity bracket. Here's a preview of the semis:

Ocean Machine: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/8e994cc71c9f4
#1 Bastard vs #5 Seventh Wave: Bastard destroyed Voices In The Fan, and I don't see Seventh Wave giving it too much trouble. Seventh Wave is the odd man out in the stacked OM semifinals, but give it some credit. It rose up to the challenge against Life.
#2 The Death Of Music vs #3 Funeral: Who remembers the first time these two met? In Devy Madness 2012, Funeral won by a single vote. Who will win this time?

Infinity: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/53278c861c9f4
#1 Bad Devil vs #4 Truth: I'm calling an upset here. I'm not really sure which song I favor, but I'm feeling it in my gut.
#2 Noisy Pinkbubbles vs. #6 War: War proved it had some staying power in taking out Dynamics. I see Noisy Pinkbubbles winning this, but you know what they say: You can't fight a war without losing blood.

Physicist: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/9c90f8d51c9f4
#1 Kingdom vs #4 Material: Material almost fell victim to the upset bug against The Complex, and I don't anticipate it giving Kingdom too much of a challenge.
#2 Planet Rain vs #6 Irish Maiden: Where did these guys come from? What we've got here is a cinderalla going up against a heavyweight. While I don't like Irish Maiden's chances in this match, it's worth noting that they very well might have knocked Namaste out of the tournament picture.

Terria: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/711dd9151c9f4
#1 Earth Day vs #5 The Fluke: A fluke indeed; they won with the help of a random number tiebreaker. Perhaps they'll get sick of "Fluke" puns and destroy Earth Day. Stranger things have happened.
#2 Deep Peace vs #3 Canada: Deep Peace may have won the whole thing the first time around, but I'd watch out for Canada; those Mounties almost took out Color Your World last year and, unlike some of their Group 1 counterparts, dismantled the 6-seed in their bracket.

Group Two Previews
We're also starting voting in the Group Two tournaments. DTB, DTP and ZIltoid lovers rejoice!
Accelerated Evolution: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/382077131c9f4
The Favorite: Deadhead. No song came any closer to taking out Deep Peace last year than Deadhead.
The Challenger: Storm/Suicide. Whichever song survives the likely 2/3 deathmatch is pretty much the only threat to the top dog.
Song I love that has virtually no chance: Sunday Afternoon. They're a 7-seed facing Storm in the Quarterfinals. Yikes.

Synchestra: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/60dd6f721c9f4
The Favorite: Triumph. It was the only Synchestra track to make it out of the first round of Devy Madness 2012.
The Challenger: Between Pixillate and Gaia, I think Pixillate has a better shot at taking out Triumph. But I'd watch for Notes From Africa in the semis.
Song I love that has virtually no chance: Sunshine and Happiness for all! Perhaps if they can take out Hypergeek, they can make some noise. But facing Pixillate is a tall order in the Quarters.

Ziltoid The Omniscient: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/384409241c9f4
The Favorite: The Greys dismantled Color Your World last year, and as it stands, they should feel pretty angry about getting the three seed here.
The Challenger: I tell you what, this is not going to be an easy tournament to win. The only surefire quarterfinal victory is Color Your World over the play-in winner. Hyperdrive will probably beat Ziltoidia Attaxx, but that's not a lock. Aside from that, this is a wide open field.
Song I love that has virtually no chance: Planet Smasher. By the way, the name's Herman, and I hate being the 6-seed.

Ki: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/315065df0c9f4
The Favorite: Ki took the DTP regional last year with relative ease.
The Challenger: I wanted to say Terminal, but then I saw that Ki ran them over last year, too. Coast got a tough Addicted draw last year, so maybe they'll have better luck dealing with their own brethren.
Song I love that has virtually no chance: Trainfire. My favorite song on Ki, guys! Help a Bender out.

Addicted: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/013ea75e0c9f4
The Favorite: Supercrush. The 1-seed in the DTP last year beat Numbered and The Mighty Masturbator by a grand total of three votes before getting smacked by the Ki-tar.
The Challenger: The difference between Supercrush and Numbered the first time around was two votes, which makes Numbered a threat. Awake has a shot. A possible matchup with The Way Home in the semis is no walk in the park, either.
Song I love that has virtually no chance: Personally, I like this Hyperdrive version. I wouldn't pick it to win the whole thing, but I would certainly take it over Universe, Bender and Ih-Ah.

Behold, the wall of polls! http://devymadness2013.blogspot.com/

Voting will close on Monday at 10 AM ET

Out of the eight semifinal matchups in group 1, seven of them ended in chalk (that is, the #1 or #2 seed winning). But Truth is the word; it beat #1 Bad Devil in the Infinity bracket. Bastard also got a much stiffer challenge than most Devytologists anticipated, getting taken to the edge by Seventh Wave. Noisy Pinkbubbles also took a close victory against Infinity cinderalla War. Meanwhile, the Group Two Quarterfinals will start up. Where will the chips fall? Only you can decide.

Group One Final Previews
Ocean Machine: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/8e994cc71c9f4
#1 Bastard vs #2 The Death of Music: Amazingly, this is the first time these two songs square off against each other. How will it end? Your guess is as good as mine.

Infinity: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/53278c861c9f4
#2 Noisy Pinkbubbles vs. #4 Truth: Truth more than likely locked up a bid to the Big Dance with its semifinal win, but it's out for blood now. Those Pinkbubbles better be extra noisy.

Physicist: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/9c90f8d51c9f4
#1 Kingdom vs #2 Planet Rain: These two songs both slaughtered their semifinal competition. But this one should be close.

Terria: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/711dd9151c9f4
#1 Earth Day vs #2 Deep Peace: The latter slaughtered the former last year, but this is different. I still expect Deep Peace to win, but nothing is for certain. I'm sure it won't be Earth Day's worst fucking day if it takes a small defeat, but it wants Deep Peace to suffer.

Group Two Quarterfinal previews
DTB, DTP and ZIltoid lovers rejoice!
Accelerated Evolution: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/382077131c9f4
#1 Deadhead vs #8 Random Analysis: Most likely going to result in a bloodbath.
#4 Depth Charge vs #5 Slow Me Down: I'm pulling for Depth Charge to make a good run here, but it's anyone's game.
#2 Storm vs #7 Sunday Afternoon: Upset alert? Maybe I like Sunday Afternoon more than most, but I still think this may be close.
#3 Suicide vs #6 Away: Suicide should win this fairly easily. Away is one of my least favorite songs on this album, but it's my favorite Devin album. So...yeah.

Synchestra: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/60dd6f721c9f4
#1 Triumph vs #9 Let It Roll: I would like Let It Roll's chances more if it could be combined with Hypergeek, but alas, it is not. Triumph triumphs.
#4 Vampira vs #5 Notes From Africa: This is one of those matchups that's hard to predict. Vampira's catchy, but Notes From Africa is a great all-around tune.
#3 Gaia vs #6 Judgement: I was expecting Babysong to pull the upset over Judgement, so naturally, I'm not too high on Judgement's chances over Gaia.
#2 Pixillate vs #10 Sunshine & Happiness: As much as I like the catchy tones of S&H, there's no way I'm taking it over Pixillate.

Ziltoid The Omniscient: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/384409241c9f4
#1 Color Your World vs #8 N9: Considering that N9 barely beat ZTO, I don't expect it to do well against Color Your World.
#4 Solar Winds vs #5 By Your Command: Too close to call. I'd pick By Your Command because it was one of the first Devin songs I got into.
#2 Hyperdrive vs #7 Ziltoidia Attaxx: The second Hyperdrive has been eliminated, so it's up to Hyperdrive 1 to keep the legacy going. Even though I love Ziltoidia Attaxx and its outright silliness, Hyperdrive will probably win.
#3 The Greys vs #6 Planet Smasher: Oh god, I don't think I can decide.

Ki: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/315065df0c9f4
#1 Ki vs #9 Winter: I'm probably going to get shot for this, but I just never liked Ki (the song) as much as many other songs on this album. Winter is one of those songs. So if there's only one vote for Winter, you know who it's from.
#4 Heaven Send vs #5 Lady Helen: I'm not even going to attempt to predict this one.
#3 Terminal vs #6 Trainfire: Much like Winter, if Trainfire only ends up with one vote, you know who it's from.
#2 Coast vs #7 Disruptr: Coast should win this fairly easily. I used to really like Disruptr, especially since Devin played it a couple times when I saw him, but Coast still gets my vote.

Addicted: http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/013ea75e0c9f4
#1 Supercrush vs #8 Universe In A Ball: I was hoping Resolve would win against Universe, but it didn't. Supercrush wins easily.
#4 The Way Home vs #5 Ih-Ah: I really hope The Way Home wins this one. But these two songs are so different, even if one leads to the other, that it makes it very hard to predict.
#2 Awake vs #7 Addicted: All the world's afraid of Awake; Addicted's going down.
#3 Numbered vs #6 Bend It Like Bender: Why must we die? Because, Bender, you're facing Numbered.

Voting for this round was surprisingly easy for me. My hardest match was, by far, The Greys vs Planet Smasher.

I speak of the Ocean Machine and Terria brackets. Disappointed Bad Devil lost to Truth, though, considering Truth sounds like an intro track compared to rest of the album (in my opinion at least).
