I have just discovered today that my (nice, shiny, new and relatively expensive) amplifier is having a problem with its analogue inputs...so this is a pain in the arse as I can't listen to my progress on this project without using headphones.

Thank-funkily I took out an extended guarantee on the bugger!

I always do better work with headphones. Keeps me more focused on what I'm acually doing.

True...but it can give you a false sense of what it will actually sound like, as everything sounds so much better with headphones anyway.

And its tough to rock out with headphones on.

Or something like that anyway.

I have also added the band "Shopping Kart" to my list of confirmed acts. Thanks to their guitarist Pete (username: NotSoSilentPete) for giving me permission! Some of you may remember his excellent cover of Deep Peace from some time ago.

Check their website at: http://www.shoppingkartband.com

I am going to use their song "Dark Light over Blue Skies"

(some of you may also recognise the strange french web designer responsible for that website!)

Though my amplifier has indeed gone kaput I should be able to continue with all this no bother.

In no particular order, this brings the grand list of confirmed acts up to this state:

Username (Artist/band name)

Mo (Way Of The Extreme)
Greg Reason
Earworm
Danra
Terraformer
Olive? (Atomic Ants)
StrappingYoungLad (Indignation/Kris)
TeamJonny (Silentist)
Torniojaws (Vortech)
NotSoSilentPete (Shopping Kart)
Blazingmonga (what a freaking funster he is!)
Armheadmcgee

Ok, now these are my 'key' players...and I give these guys priority at the moment. However, this is not because I am mean, but because I contacted these guys first. Unfortunately this is not a democracy...its a Mong-ocracy...Monga-crazy...something like that.

Anyway, if anybody else out there is still keen then please do get in touch with me, (email, PM, MSN) and I would love to hear your music (Hevyminik, funny_little_guy this applies to you!)...however due to space constraints (80 minutes is never going to be long enough heh) your songs may not make the final cut.

At any rate I always love hearing all the music that flows through this place. Thats what all this is about. You guys all rock!

Aaaah I know not what I say. Who knows what will happen!

So thats my update I suppose. Yay!

PS: Also, if any of my confirmed people would like to send me your final cuts...I would love to get them! Aye.

Ok, I have had a few files delivered to me now. The following people have finished their contribution to the album and given me the final cuts:

Earworm
Danra
Olive? (Atomic Ants)
TeamJonny (Silentist)
Torniojaws (Vortech)
NotSoSilentPete (Shopping Kart)
Blazingmonga

Thanks guys! Wait, I am thanking myself. Is that allowed?

So I am still waiting for the final tracks from the following people:

Mo (Way Of The Extreme)
Greg Reason (though his is in the post)
Terraformer
StrappingYoungLad (Indignation/Kris)
TeamJonny (Silentist)
Torniojaws (Vortech)
Armheadmcgee

Making progress! I have also got a few really cool tricks up my sleeve in order to get a few tracks to fit together really well. Should be fun!

I will keep you all informed.

Hmm...I missed this one. Any room for another track? It seems like you've got a lot now. Oh, phooey! :(

I am not sure how much room I have left, but please send me something if you are keen to be involved...in the least I will enjoy listening to it!

Email me at: Blazingmonga@hevydevyforums.com
Or PM me. Or pidgeon. Or telepathy.

I would rather have more tracks than I need than to have to bug people here to send me stuff (or fill up the rest of the disc with random noise).

How about this: SHE CRIES - DAM

This is actually a cover of an early System Of A Down demo. I think I did a nifty job on this. It's the only thing with vocals that I have on this PC right now that actually doesn't sound like a demo.

Thanks for that Eyesore. I like it. It still sounds 'raw' but I agree that it is definately in a nifty way. If there is space left then this will definately be included! As it isn't too long a song then there should be room.

Also, in a slightly related note, I have something to show you guys. I made this a couple of weeks back and it roughly indicates the level of stupidity you can expect to see on the HDAS compilation:

http://www.soundclick.com/blazingmonga/

And also it is a bit of a test for me on how easy that website is to use. It seems to work quite well. I could potentially upload HDAS to that site...though we will have to see.

Good stuff! Well, other than the thing I made. That's bad stuff.

Well, the original is very raw. It's one of my favorite SOAD songs. I added some vocal effects and some weird noises, and changed the "everyone is sleeping" line to "everyone was sleeping," so with all those changes I wanted to try and keep the vibe a little close to the original.

I can't get your song to play. =(

I can certainly download my song from that site, that seems to work. I can't try the player thing just now as I am too lazy to swap my cables around (I am having a bit of an interconnect situation at the moment).

Don't worry, you arent missing much! Just a bit of fun.

I have been very, very (very!) busy this week so I havent had much time on my computer. Next week I will have much more spare time so I will make some more moves on all this then.

A quick update from me:

As things have been very hectic recently, not much progress has been made on this. I think in the new year I will finally be able to get this thing moving again!

I have (kindly) recieved the final/high quality masters of Greg Reason's contribution to this disc, so that rocks. Anybody else that wants to send me that kind of thing should really do it. It would make me very happy!

Another thing to note: At the SYL/AE show in Glasgow recently, I was fortunate enough to speak to Dev briefly while AE were playing. I told him about this project and asked if he was ok with the use of his name (the 'Hevy Devy' bit at least) and the inclusion of a cover of one of his songs (the Canada cover). He seemed very flattered and gave me his consent...which was very nice of him.

Not that I think there would ever be a problem, as this will not be sold or distributed in any way other than for free.

I have still been playing around with various little mixing tricks in advance of making the final product. I have many ideas up my sleeves!

Anyhoo...roll on next year!
