Totally understand people not bothering with Blu-Ray, but if you have a decent full HD TV and the right movie, it looks fantastic.
What I continue to hate about Blu-Ray is now everyone must make all special features in HD, thusly special editions on Blu-Ray are (apparently) awesome, and DVD practically gets the bare-bones treatment.
Example: Iron Man special edition DVD is awesome, and its Blu-Ray equivalent doesn't add much beyond definition, which suits me fine. Iron Man 2 special edition, however, gets the crap treatment on DVD - there's not even enough material to justify 2 discs, you could easily fit them all one! But the Blu-Ray version has shitloads of stuff to go through, all in HD (and some standard). A goddamn rip off. Which begs the question, why couldn't the DVD copy get most of these features even if only in standard definition? Why the fuck must I go out of my way to fork over nearly $1000 for a goddamn Blu-Ray player and corresponding TV just for a fucking movie, when previously DVDs would be packed with stuff to give you the full enjoyment? FUCK YOU BLU-RAY!!! I refuse.
Of course that is just my opinion.
